Rodent Proofing & Exclusion in Albury, Wodonga & Rutherglen

Old-school methods of rodent control are mostly baiting or trapping. But unlike rodent proofing, these methods don’t stop mice and rats from getting in and chewing your wiring before they eat the bait.

We believe in solving the rodent problem permanently by stopping the rats and mice from getting in at all.

Traditional Methods of Rodent Control Aren't Perfect

Baiting and trapping mice and rats only gets you so far. This is because Rodent bait takes three to five days to affect a mouse or rat. So, this gives them plenty of time to bump, scratch, and chew their way through your roof void before they die.

Rodent baiting kept numbers down in this house in Albury, but didn't stop the mice from damaging duct work.

With no rodent proofing, rats can chew electrical components, like this junction box in Wodonga.

Pianto’s Pest Control was the first company to offer rodent proofing & exclusion services in the Albury/Wodonga and Rutherglen/Corowa areas. So we were the first to give clients a better option than just keeping numbers down with baits and traps. And the first to help clients protect their houses from damage by mice and rats.

Rodent Proofing Solves Your Mouse or Rat Problem for the Long Term

Stopping mice and rats from getting in with rodent proofing permanently solves your problem, rather than slowing it down.

Mice can get through a 6mm gap and a rat can squeeze into a gap larger than 13mm. So, it takes a practiced eye to think like a rodent and seal up the right areas to achieve good rodent proofing results. See the examples below for examples of how we achieve this.

Rat proofing involves fixing holes in window seals, like this one in Albury
Mice can enter through very tiny gaps, like this window seal in Rutherglen.
We focus on air conditioner pipes like this one in Wodonga for mouse and rat proofing
This air conditioner pipe entry in Corowa is a good entry point for rats.

Rodent proofing protects your home from disruptive behaviour by rats and mice. These behaviours include gnawing/chewing electrical wires, tunnelling through insulation, making noise at night, damaging ductwork, and spreading disease.

Rodent Proofing is Better and Environmentally Friendly

Although we follow industry best practices when using it, rodent bait can lead to secondary poisoning of pets and native species if done improperly or over a long time.

Rodent proofing totally removes the need for baits inside your house. Therefore, it’s a much more environmentally-friendly way of controlling rats and mice.

Proofing reduces the amount of baiting required and means you only need to focus on the outside for population control. And in some cases, it can even eliminate the need for baiting altogether.

How Does It Work?

Frequently Asked Questions about Rodent Proofing & Exclusion

All houses can be mouse proofed.

It just comes down to a matter of how much time and money you need to spend. Some houses take us only a few hours. But some rodent proofing projects can take several days to complete.

The best way to find out is to get us to do a rodent inspection and locate all of the entry points.

That’s okay. All of our rodent proofing projects start with a full inspection.

After the inspection, you will get a pest inspection report with photos of mouse and rat entry points.

You’ll also receive a Pest Management Plan which will detail what we plan to do, how long it will take, and how much it will cost.

Generally, it is more expensive than more traditional methods of rodent control (baiting and trapping).

This is because there is a lot of time and expertise required to find and seal up all rodent entry points.

However, it saves you money in the long term. It reduces the need for ongoing rodent control and stops mice & rats from damaging your house.

We do our best to colour-match the sealants we use. We also use textured sealant to blend in any mouse and rat entry points to your brick mortar.

Our goal is to achieve rodent proofing with as little visual disturbance as possible. We will work with you to achieve this.
